The Balcones distillery out in Waco, Texas, are well known for using blue corn in their spirits – they were the first to make a whisky using it! This right here is their very own bourbon, incorporating the brilliant blue corn in the mash-bill – a stonkingly tasty release from the inventive distillers…
Nose: Fresh vanilla, coffee bean and a hearty dollop of honey. Toasted walnut and roast chestnut notes follow.
Palate: Cigar box, chocolate truffle, still quite nutty. A burst of spicy cinnamon at the core.
Finish: Molasses, caramel and a hint of fried bread.
