Founded in 1986 by Guy le Lay, Distillerie des Menhirs started out producing Lambig (Breton cider brandy) and Pommeau de Bretagne, both earning AOC status. Not content with finding delicious ways to use local apples, in 1998 they decided to use the local buckwheat to create unique Breton whiskies.
Nose: Buckwheat linked honey and oak notes, honeycomb, cinnamon, sweetpeas, tinned peaches.
Palate: More honeyed notes, fruit salad, red berries, elderberry and hibiscus, beeswax and sweet allspice.
Finish: Clean and crisp.
