This is the fourth release in Killowen’s Bonded Experimental Series, and the 10 year old Irish blended whiskey has been finished in a cask which previously held peated whisky from Islay! The cask influence isn’t overwhelming here, with subtle influences of maritime peat smoke just peeking through. A limited 398 cask strength bottles were released at 55.4% ABV.
Nose: A suggestion of peat smoke, supported by orchard fruit, lemon curd and spiced biscuits, with a subtle sea breeze running through.
Palate: A hint of burnt tyre, with brown sugar, cinnamon butter and dried apricot.
Finish: Sweet and smoky, clove-studded orange sits alongside notes of cigar box and oaky vanilla.
