Well, this is a rather unusual whiskey from Killowen! Released as part of the distillery’s Bonded Experimental Series, this release is made up of a blend of single grain and single malt Irish whiskeys, initially matured in bourbon casks, before a further maturation in sherry butts. Then, it was blended with another bourbon-aged Irish single malt, before the whiskey was finished in a Txakolina (a sparkling, very dry white wine from the Basque Country) cask with virgin Acacia heads. Certainly not something you see every day! Finally, it was bottled at 10 years old at cask strength, with a release of 490 bottles.
