Another unique release in Buffalo Trace’s Experimental Collection, this Old Fashioned Sour Mash harks back to the days when things took a lot longer. Distilled in 2002, the mash for this expression is allowed to sour before yeast is added to kickstart the fermentation process. This method is no longer used because of its lengthy nature, but Buffalo Trace is bringing it back to our tastebuds!
Nose: Mocha leads into young oak and a prickle of chai spice.
Palate: Toffee popcorn, spicy oak and white chocolate, with runny caramel dark chocolate.
Finish: Butterscotch and a delicate herbal undertone lingers.
