A staggering single cask bourbon from the Blanton’s range, this was distilled at Buffalo Trace and it was aged in barrel number 3 before bottling at natural cask strength (a whopping 131.9 proof or 65.95% ABV!). Delicious.
Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel – Barrel 3
Nose: Intense and hugely complex with notes of furniture wax and rye spice up front. Then it develops on salted butter and caramel. Hints of boiled sweets and peppermint.
Palate: Very rye-heavy with big caramel and char notes as well. Vanilla offers sweetness and a creamy character, with cracked black pepper and allspice developing.
Finish: Long, spiced finish. Very peppery and rather oily too.
