Prepare yourself for hellz-a-poppin’ good times, Blanton’s Straight from the Barrel is the very finest thing there is in all of the world. Oh my. This stuff is a sour mash whiskey, distilled from a recipe of corn, rye and malted barley and aged in white oak. The barrel staves are air-dried for six months and have a number 4 char. It’s then bottled as a single cask spirit with a fine, deep amber hue at 66.25% ABV.
Nose: Honey and charred oak on the nose with hints of pipe tobacco, vanilla fudge and coffee beans.
Palate: Rich and creamy with notes of potpourri, tangy citrus peels and honey. A hint of nutmeg and cinnamon.
Finish: The finish is long with notes of peach nectar and butterscotch.
