Invergordon grain whisky matured in a single cask for half a century! Distilled in November 1964, this Master of Malt full bottle exclusive (also included as 3cl drams in a proportion of ) was bottled by Douglas Laing in 2015 as part of their extra excellent Xtra Old Particular range.
Nose: Honey-drenched porridge, coffee bean and cacao powder. Lingering hints of old oak (as you would expect from a 50 year old whisky!).
Palate: A very luxurious mouthfeel. Bourbon-esque as it opens, with caramel and buttered toast. Develops almost Cognac-like rancio/vegetal notes later on.
Finish: Biscotti dipped in Crème de cassis.
