I say! A 50 year old Invergordon, bottled by Hunter Laing for the Sovereign series! Distilled in March 1966, this beauty was aged in a refill hogshead cask for half of a century (blimey!) before it was bottled at cask strength in April 2016 at a fitting 50.0% ABV. With an outturn of 261 bottles, this Invergordon is non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It just oozes sophistication, doesn’t it?!
Nose: Sweet vanilla and dried fruit, with a helping of dusty oak and a hint of cinnamon.
Palate: Rich and mellow, buttery shortbread, vanilla and dark chocolate with hazelnut filling. Spicy clove and sultanas are also present and give good depth.
Finish: Long and dry, with a slightly earthy, rhubarb tang.
