The third release in Lot 40’s Cask Strength series. This time, a portion of the fantastic Canadian rye whiskey has enjoyed a finishing period in new French oak barrels, and it has been bottled up at a burly 57% ABV. Ought to be very impressive indeed, we reckon.
Nose: Cinnamon, sawdust, vanilla blossom and toffee popcorn.
Palate: Raspberries and blueberries, balanced by peppercorn and caraway heat. Subtly grassy at points, with a layer of orange zest.
Finish: Dusty oak, more peppercorn, a touch of sugary coffee.
