Mackmyra Vinterrok, part of their Seasons series, is an enjoyably smoky Swedish single malt which has been finished in casks that had contained strong Scotch ale! As you might expect from the name, this’ll be a delicious treat from the winter months.
Nose: Butter at first, with bourbon-cask vanilla, though fragrant smoke begins to develop. It’s joined by herbal malt and a spicy kick of nutmeg.
Palate: Green apple and Curaçao orange, stem ginger, sticking plasters, white flowers and clove.
Finish: Final notes of tobacco leaf, chocolate-coated peanuts and golden malt.
