Bottled by Speciality Drinks, this is a superb cask-strength, 19 year old single malt whisky from the Port Askaig range. The bottlers will not reveal from which distillery this hails… We can only guess (perhaps it’s the one at Port Askaig… Caol something isn’t it? I forget).
Nose: Fresh, coastal nose. A little oily, and faintly smoky. The smoke develops over time and becomes rather peaty, with a touch of cranberry too.
Palate: Thick, fruity palate, with notes of peat smoke, a touch of dried banana, biscuity malt and cocoa butter. Very interesting indeed, with an oily mouth-feel.
Finish: Sweet, peaty finish. Dusty and oily.
