Bowmore 50 Year Old 1966 (cask 5675)
Released in late 2017, this 50 year old single malt from Bowmore was distilled back in 1966. Those of you out there that are big Bowmore boffins (or simply have a very good memory) will know that this was the first year that Bowmore officially bottled their whisky as a single malt, as well as the year that the legendary Eddie MacAffer joined the distillery (he would later go on to become Bowmore’s manager!). This extraordinarily well-aged Islay single malt was matured in a single ex-bourbon hogshead, and has been bottled at 41.5% ABV, with only 74 bottles produced. Each one comes presented in an oak case, with five hand-laid silver rings at its centre, representing the five decades that the whisky was aged for.
