An extraordinary Islay single malt that in this day and age is uniquely made using barley that’s grown, harvested, malted, distilled and matured all at a single farm distillery! Lightly peated in comparison to other Kilchomans, this 6th edition was filled into ex-Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels in 2010 and bottled in 2016.
Nose: Chocolatey smoke with fruity hints, like a barbecued banana stuffed with chocolate buttons. Barley and hints of guava. A drop of water reveals gingerbread and burnt panettone.
Palate: Silky, clean peat smoke dances on the tongue with light texture, subtle wood spice and dried banana chips.
Finish: Cocoa and smoke linger but far from being heavy, the finish is refreshing with the subtlest hint of menthol.
