From the little-known Shinshu distillery comes a single cask Japanese whisky bottled for La Maison du Whisky (following on from the released by La Maison du Whisky in celebration of their 60th anniversary). This peaty expression was distilled in 2014 and aged in a first-fill bourbon barrel until 2017, when it was bottled at cask strength.
Nose: Ginger, anise and ripe pear, plus a drizzle of toffee sauce.
Palate: Roasted peat, nutmeg, yellow plum and quince jam.
Finish: Subtly grassy, though smoke remains at the fore.
