Buffalo Trace’s Stagg Jr. release share characteristics with their George T. Stagg expressions (released as part of the annual Antique Collection), in that they’re intense, full-on bourbon whiskeys. However, they’re just a bit easier to get your hands on (George T. Stagg bottles are notorious for selling out in seconds) and a little bit younger.
Nose: Powerful with burnt sugar and flamed orange peel. Toasted oak hides underneath.
Palate: New leather, clove, red chilli and dark chocolate. A few drops of water helps to bring fruity notes to the fore.
Finish: Very long and spicy. A touch of honey.
