Originally released as part of Glenlivet’s Travel Retail market offering, the Triple Cask Matured Distiller’s Reserve expression brings together whisky matured in three different types of cask – traditional casks, American white oak casks and ex-sherry casks. Wonderfully well balanced stuff.
Nose: Honeycomb, whiffs of sherried peels and dried fruit, polished oak, slightly earthy and herbal as it develops in the glass.
Palate: Chewy dates, almond flakes, toasted coconut, Shredded Wheat in milk topped with brown sugar, good coffee.
Finish: More dates, now paired with fudge and a slight waft of vegetal smoke.
