A well-aged expansion to Tomatin’s core range, the 1988 vintage single malt Scotch whisky is created from a mixture of bourbon barrel and Port pipe-matured whiskies, which slumbered in their casks for over 25 years. Top work from the Tomatin distillery in the Highlands.
Nose: Jammy and sweet up front, hints of strawberries and fresh melon. Ginger and oak warmth. Good hit of sugary vanilla in there too, and maybe a bit of smoke.
Palate: Mouth-coating and rich, plenty of cake-y vanilla and honey. Stone fruit, white pepper and once again the smoke wafts in.
Finish: Long and honey’d. Final splash of fresh fruits.
