This is a 2004 vintage Auchentoshan single malt from the Lowland region, independently bottled for The Ten range for La Maison du Whisky. The Ten range is a selection of whiskies which have been organised by flavour profile, from the lightest (#00) to most intense (#10). This one is #01, suggesting that it’s rather light indeed, which is what we’ve come to expect from the excellent Auchentoshan distillery.
Nose: Summer berry tart with a dollop of extra-thick double cream. A hint of caramel too.
Palate: Nutty nougat, light hints of grape and some oak spice.
Finish: Still quite nutty.
