A new release from Highland Park, which will be to some people’s ears. Dubbed Full Volume, the expression was distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2017. It spent this time exclusively in first fill bourbon casks, rather than Highland Park’s traditional sherry casks. This certainly turned up the volume on those delicious creamy bourbon notes. The single malt was finally bottled at 47.2% ABV and comes presented in a sufficiently trendy presentation box which could easily be mistaken for a Highland Park-sized speaker.
Highland Park Full Volume
Nose: Vanilla cream, smooth fudge and barley sugar sweetness, balanced by citrus zest, lemon curd and oak spice.
Palate: More creamy vanilla, sweet lemon peel and tropical fruits, rich coconut balanced by hallmark aromatic smokiness.
Finish: Barley sugar returns on a long finish, supported by slightly tannic oak, even more creamy vanilla and lemon, with cedar wood and a hint of tangy pineapple.
