A rare bottling of Mosstowie – which whisky boffins will know is single malt distilled in the short-lived Miltonduff Lomond stills. This one was aged in a single cask, laid down in November 1979 and cracked open in October 2016. It was bottled by Signatory for the Cask Strength Collection with a small outturn of 150 bottles.
Nose: Peppercorn, menthol, oily malt and slowly flourishing notes of poached pears.
Palate: Spicy at first, with notes of clove and five-spice. Soon enough, though sweet notes of poached fruit come back.
Finish: Oat biscuits with a layer of milk chocolate.
