This peated whisky comes from the G. Miclo distillery, based in the French village of Lapoutroie, Alsace. Welche’s Whisky Tourbé is double distilled, and the single malt is aged in small barrels from French wine estates, giving it a rather silky honeyed flavour profile.
Nose: Prominent smoky aromas balanced by sweeter aromas of buttery caramel and fragrant honey.
Palate: Smooth and buttery again, rich peat smoke intertwined with more caramel, burnt sugar and malt cereal.
Finish: A biscuity finish with char and smoke fading gently.
