Pays Welche is where the French village of Lapoutroie is located, in the middle of the picturesque mountains at the foothills of the Vosges ridges. It’s also where the G. Miclo distillery is based, which produced this bottle of Welche’s Whisky Fine Tourbé. The whisky was double distilled and aged in French Burgundy wine barrels, producing a very gently peated single malt weighing in at 10ppm.

Nose: Gentle wafts of smoke, slightly burnt toast and an aromatic musky note.
Palate: Peat is present but gently melts away, revealing rich notes of hazelnuts and almonds.
Finish: A sweet cassis note and more toasted almond.
